Barcelona's viewpoints

Barcelona is an amphitheater: mountain behind, sea ahead and a plain of rooftops between. The free viewpoints are worth more than many paid monuments.

The Bunkers del Carmel

The civil-war antiaircraft platforms turned the city's favorite viewpoint: 360 degrees, free, with the most celebrated sunsets. Go with time and by bus or fresh legs: the climb is honest.

All of Montjuïc

The castle closes the circle with the port and sea view; the funicular road and the MNAC terrace add two more. The port cable car is the adrenaline version of the walk.

Views with a drink

Downtown hotel rooftops and Eixample attic bars open to the public at the price of a drink: the same skyline, with a chair. Booking a sunset table is the play.
