The Sagrada Família

It is the visit that defines the trip and the one that least forgives improvisation: entry runs on time slots and sells out weeks ahead in high season. Booked, it is the most dazzling architectural experience on the continent.

Booking and choosing the hour

Buy your slot on the official site and pick mid-morning: the light through the eastern stained glass changes the interior's color by the hour. The tower visit is an add-on — lovely, but the nave is the wonder.

How much time it deserves

Ninety calm minutes for the interior, plus the basement museum if you want Gaudí's story through his plaster models. Add half an hour if you go up a tower.

The surroundings trick

The best photographs don't come from the main door: they're in the small park opposite and on the corners two blocks away, where the towers align with the Eixample's chamfered blocks.
