The Palau de la Música Catalana

The Palau is Domènech i Montaner's masterpiece: mosaic, glass and light down to the staircases. Take the guided tour or, better, live it in a concert for the price of a normal ticket.

Tour or concert

The guided visit explains the hall from seat and box. But the city's best bargain is a cheap chorus or chamber concert: the whole Palau working is another experience entirely.

The ceiling detail

The inverted glass teardrop over the stage drops like a drop of light: it is the building's icon and impossible to photograph with flash. Sit and look at it for a long while.

Exactly where

On the corner of Sant Pere Més Alt, five minutes from the cathedral and El Born: the facade surprises because the street is narrow and the building is large. Book: tours fill on weekends.
